The Reverend Doctor Danielle Lynette Hunter
Danielle L. Hunter is an Itinerant Elder in the African Methodist Episcopal Church. She is the former pastor of Mount Laurel A.M.E. Church, Pilesgrove; and Saint Mark A.M.E. Church, Cranford; and she presently serves as pastor of Bethel A.M.E. Church, Asbury Park, where she was appointed in April 2014.
During her 26 years of ministry, in addition to pastoring, Rev. Hunter has been privileged to serve as a chaplain in the following areas: hospital, hospice, nursing facility and prison chaplaincy. She is a former president of the New Jersey Institutional Chaplains’ Association. She presently facilitates leadership and conflict resolution trainings; and seminars on church and pastoral care-related issues.
Rev. Hunter has been a member of the A.M.E. Church New Jersey Conference Board of Examiners, which evaluates candidates for the life and work of ministry, for 12 years, seven of which she served as secretary. In February 2018, she was appointed Dean of the A.M.E. Church New Jersey Conference Ministerial Institute, where she served as a former instructor for several years.
Rev. Hunter served as Cohort Director for the Doctor of Ministry Pastoral Care and Counseling Program at New Brunswick Theological Seminary for three years. She has been employed by the State of New Jersey for 19 years.
Rev. Hunter received a Bachelor of Arts degree in sociology and a certificate in criminology from Douglass College (Rutgers University); a Master of Divinity degree from New Brunswick Theological Seminary; and a Doctor of Ministry degree from the Theological School of Drew University.
